We are very proud to offer this high-end treatment in our own practice and save our patients a lot of travelling.

Dental implants are now a routine way of replacing missing teeth or a single missing tooth. It is essentially an artificial tooth root which can support a crown, bridge or denture. The highly predictable success rate for tooth implants is around 99.7% which makes them an ideal treatment option for patients with gaps or loose dentures.

The implant is screw shaped and made of titanium. It is placed either into a socket of a recently removed tooth or into a hole made to take an implant and is then left for 3-6 months, depending on the location in the mouth, to integrate with the bone like a natural tooth root. Impressions are taken and the dentures, permanent crowns or bridges are made on top of the implant.

Dental implants can be the best solution to the problem of missing teeth. By integrating into your bone, implants can prevent the bone loss and gum recession that often accompanies bridgework and dentures. The treatment can be more conservative than traditional bridgework, since implants leave your own teeth untouched; a significant long-term benefit to your oral health.

Suffering from loose, unstable dentures can lead to problems when eating, speaking or smiling. It can wear down the jawbone, meaning your dentures will need to be replaced regularly as your bite changes. Two to four implants, fitted at strategic points in the jaw, can provide a strong, stable base for dentures to sit on and prevent movement, maintain the health of your jawbone and restore chewing ability, which in turn helps to improve your diet and overall health. Implant retained dentures can also last much longer and prevent the embarrassment of loose dentures.

The implant cost varies as the extent of necessary surgery, the quality of your bone and the amount of implants will differ. This can only be diagnosed after a personal consultation to provide an accurate costing. Dental implants are often the most cost effective treatment as they save the surrounding teeth, meaning (future) treatment for them is less likely (assuming they are healthy to start off with). Therefore cost, when spread over your life time, reduces considerably.
