Associate Dentist

Ruben originates from a small town near Madrid in Spain. He qualified as a Dental Surgeon at the Complutense University of Madrid in 2007. He worked in private practice in Spain for about 12 months until he moved to Lincolnshire in 2008. Here he worked in a mixed NHS / private practice and began to attend many postgraduate dental courses both in the UK and abroad.
Ruben relocated to London in 2009 and in 2010 he gained the Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Endodontics from the University of Barcelona. Since then Ruben has developed an interest in Restorative Dentistry, and has a particular expertise in root canal treatments and complex dental wear cases. In 2011, he achieved the Postgraduate Certificate in Aesthetic Dentistry at University College London, so as to better understand the secrets of smile design and smile makeovers.
After three years in London, he decided to move to the North East as he felt it was a great place to live. In 2013, he began a 2 year full time Masters in Clinical Dentistry Programme in Restorative Dentistry at Newcastle University. He was awarded the degree with distinction and he developed a strong understanding of the new methods and principles in Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy) working alongside Professor John Whitworth, and a comprehensive knowledge of the mouth as a functional and aesthetic unit working alongside Dr Bob Wassell, both world-renowned lecturers. Also in 2013 Ruben obtained a second postgraduate qualification, Membership of Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MFDS RCSEd). In addition, He has joined the Restorative Dentistry teaching team at Newcastle University.
Outside of work, Ruben is a loving husband and father to a beautiful daughter Maia. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, travelling, and skiing in winter and scuba diving in the summer with his wife, who is also a dentist.
