Indra’s blog: About my Sauna visit and “No Nando’s”

Sometimes you need to take the time to just sit back and relax. To gather your thoughts, to re-energise, to not be a parent or use all your head space for the work that you practice. My team realise I don’t get to do that often enough and they gave me a voucher for the spa. Very grateful I happily sunk in a day of artificial warmth to recharge, never thinking it would actually bring me the realisation it did.
In one of my sauna sessions there was a group of four young men that just came out of the gym and while relaxing the muscles that worked so hard minutes before, were deciding amongst themselves where they would go for dinner next. Different establishments were suggested. While I was dozing in the warmth around me, I couldn’t help but just overhearing them talk.
When one of them suggested to go to Nando’s, another immediately replied ‘No Nando’s’ as a fact. It seemed the others had kind of set their heart on Nando’s though and decided to poke the blunt refusal further for some explanation. You really don’t want to go? Is there nothing on their menu you like? Oh, I don’t know. What do you mean? You like chicken? Yes. You like… and a few suggestions followed of food done at Nando’s. The “no Nando” liked most of what was on offer. But what’s the reason not to go there then, another asked as surprised as I was.

The answer literally made my heart sink…
I have never been to Nando’s, so I don’t want to go. Really, that’s the reason? I had to see this and glared their way from under my eye lashes. The others were just looking at him dazed. “You mean you don’t want to try?” “I don’t want to go. Why would I want to go somewhere if I don’t know what it’s like when I can go somewhere where I do?”
They just looked at each other stunned. They decided not to fight his logic as there was nothing more sensible to say and reluctantly for “friendship’s sake” chose another place with a big sigh.
The thing that popped into my mind was; What if patients that never had a chance to come into our practice decided it was not for them? Simply for the fact that they had never been before. Would they be putting up with what they had known for years for fear of the unknown? It is a fact that patients are often very loyal to their dental practice. And even despite feelings of not being heard or with problems not being addressed stay put.
Well, have we got the answer to that! A simple try-before-you-buy as we are still taking on new patients. We would like nothing more than for you and/or your loved ones that are still on the fence, to see what we are all about.

So you have been to the practice and you can make a judgement for yourself. Therefor we are offering complimentary appointments with one of our treatment coordinators. No strings attached. You get to see the practice, get your questions answered and get a taste of why we love what we do so much. If you then decide you would like to get into the dental chair to have an extensive new patient consultation with one of our dentists, we can get that booked in for you. Trying to take as many thresholds as we can away to pave the path for you to find us. How does that sound?
