Indra’s blog; About Bucket Lists and my Running Journey

I started running…. Again..
Why? You might ask. First of all, because I needed to get fit… don’t we all?.. Sure, it is the whole standard story of wanting to achieve a healthy life to live longer and make sure these kids of mine have a strong mum for as long as they can, but there was something else. This small flickering light, that kept going deep within me, popped up now and again … I used to run… and I stopped and I regretted it. I also used to dance, but that’s a story for a different day ;)
I never ran very far, but I really enjoyed running…. Even in the rain. I wasn’t quick, but fast enough to get the blood pumping and the adrenaline going to make me feel alive and kicking… eh running.
I moved to the UK and life took over. Building this practice, while building a home and becoming a mum to these three beautiful boys of mine. And somewhere at the start of all this the running was forgotten and it became about all the other things in life. You might recognise that.
Until last year. …. When a few brave souls in the practice decided to do the Great North Run. Familiar by most of you, this is a half marathon, and the biggest and most known in the North East.
And it reminded me of my bucket list …
In a glimpse of utter shine I signed up to the first ballot. Thinking I might be able to tick three points of my list: Getting fit again, Doing the Great North Run once in my life time and Giving Back to those who were there when we needed it most.

Never ever did I expect to get through that first ballot as there is such a shortage of places and so many willing runners. I got the email saying You Are In! And I was shocked. What now? I hadn’t run in 17 years.
My stars in the practice provided me with tips on how to get started and how to progress. So I did just that. Starting with the couch to 5K app was a real eye opener. I literally started with 3 min of running and I have to say that even those 3 min were hard for this couch potato. But I started moving and I still do. I am building my strength and wish I could say speed, hahahah, but I am still as slow as it comes. And that’s fine.
I am doing it for a cause and I hope you will support me.
I just ran my first 10K race: I was almost the last one in, but the utter joy and feelings of achievement when I came over that finish line, totally out of breath, trumps it all.
I am not there yet, but I am on my way and determined. Where are you? What is on your bucket list? What do you want to achieve? And most importantly … how can we help? Want to achieve a healthy smile? Looking for a bright sparkle?

Come in and see us. If I can go from couch potato to 10K, imagine what my determination can help you with, in achieving your dream smile. I am ready and my team is ready. We will help you tick daring to smile your brightest smile off your bucket list.
